Lucky number 7

The scale had stalled for a few days.  I was honestly frustrated because I was getting used to, and excited by, the scale moving even a little bit daily.  Well, it started moving again today!!  I am down 7 pounds and over 8.5 inches all over, and that's fabulous! I have lost 2 inches from my waist, 2 from my bust, and 2.5 from my hips! The rest is from limbs - legs, shins, arms..

I feel good, too - other than a nasty rotten cold that my youngest shared with me.  But even that.. I'm not at 100% by any means, but I'm not down for the count, either. Usually with a cold, I can't sleep.  Well, this time, falling asleep hasn't been easy, but staying asleep hasn't been an issue!  I started logging my food, to make sure my calorie intake was on track, and I'm finding that I feel perfectly fine with a much lower calorie intake than ever before.  I always had a hard time staying within my Points when I did WeightWatchers, and in order to stay below the threshold with other programs, I depended on the "extra" I'd get from exercise, but now, I am actually finding I need to eat a little MORE to meet the intake goal.  I am perfectly satisfied with one bite of a cookie, not the whole thing! And I am shocked at myself, but I don't miss soda!! AT.. ALL...

And here's a cool side note.. I have been giving the Slim product to my son who is a Type 1 Diabetic. The product was originally created for Type 2s to help them maintain blood sugar control.  I figured if it could help my Carb-Addict with his cravings, then I'd be delighted (the poor kid gravitates to anything that will raise his sugar levels).  It's been going fine, and really, unless there is an issue with the pump, his numbers have not skyrocketed like they normally would..

But yesterday was the kicker.. he ate a package of pop tarts.  74 carbs of pure, refined sugariness.  He forgot to cover for it.  This usually means blood sugar readings that are off the charts, hours of trying to get him back in range, throwing enough insulin into the kid to stop a train... well, see for yourself - this is his CGM about 4 hours after he ate the dreaded pop tart.  NO SPIKE... none at all. I have no words, just - WOW...

Now, I'm clearly not a doctor, nor am I a nutritionist.. I'm just the momma of a diabetic.  I can't say for sure what caused this abnormally LOW level increase in his blood sugars with any more certainty than I can say what causes him to go through the roof.  It could be a fluke.. It could be because the planets are aligned in his favor, or it is a day that ends with the letter "Y".   Or it could be that Plexus Slim is actually having a positive effect on his blood sugars, just like it was originally intended to do!
